1st Lt. Jason Pak, Col. (Ret.) Y.T. Pak, USAF ROTC Cadet Sarah Pak and Young-Ae Pak celebrate YT's retirement from 30 years of active duty. Colonel Yeong-Tae “Y.T.” Pak had much to celebrate on March 4, 2013. In a ceremony held at the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, the Col. Pak and his family celebrated the conclusion of his 30-year career in the U.S. Army. Commander, U.S. Central Command visits APCSS

General James Mattis USMC, Commander of U.S. Central Command, visited APCSS August 9, 2012 for a roundtable discussion with staff and faculty of the Center. During his visit Gen Mattis met with APCSS Director Lt. Gen. Dan Leaf USAF (Ret.) and was briefed on the Asia-Pacific region.

Student Global Leadership students visit APCSS

Participants from the Student Global Leadership Institute at Punahou School visited APCSS July 6 2012. While visiting the Center, students met with staff and faculty and learned about disease threats to global security, disaster preparedness and importance of social media in the security environment.

DASD Scher visits APCSS

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Plans  Robert Scher visited the Center July 25 2012 for a roundtable discussion with staff and faculty. During his visit DASED Scher met with APCSS Director Lt. Gen. Dan Leaf USAF (Ret.) for the first time since taking over the Center.

The Honorable Robert Blake, Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, stopped by the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies during his visit to Honolulu April 26th, 2012. While at The Center, Assistant Secretary Blake took part in a roundtable discussion with APCSS faculty.

HONOLULU — Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies employees were recognized at the Honolulu-Pacific Federal Executive Board’s (FEB) 55th Annual Excellence in Federal Government Awards luncheon held at the Sheraton Waikiki April 13. The annual luncheon honors employees from many government agencies in Hawaii for their outstanding efforts, dedication, and contribution to the workforce and community. First-ever APCSS NCO selected Enlisted Person of the Quarter

U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Jason Lasley was selected as the Headquarters, U.S. Pacific Command Enlisted Person of the Quarter on January 12, 2011.  Lasley is assigned to the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies as the Communications Security Non-Commissioned Officer and is the first Center NCO ever chosen for this award.  Not only is he the primary handler for the entire Center’s message traffic, he also serves as a critical information conduit for tasking between PACOM and the Center’s faculty.
