Dr Deon Canyon was raised and educated in Papua New Guinea and joined the Daniel K. Inouye Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies in 2016 after working at the University of Hawaii and James Cook University in Australia. Having broad multidisciplinary teaching experience and research interests, he focuses on different crisis management fields with the common thread being understanding, managing, controlling and preventing threatening situations that involve complex and dynamic interactions. Dr Canyon is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Tropical Medicine and has published over a hundred peer-reviewed articles and books.
