Lt. Col. Aaron M. Martin photoLieutenant Colonel Aaron Martin came to the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in June 2017 as an Army War College Senior Fellow. A native of Ozark, Missouri, he entered military service after being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1998.

His military education includes the Air Defense Officer Basic Course, Aviation Captains Career Course, and Command General Staff College. He is also a graduate of the Strategic Mobility Planning and Flight School. He is a qualified pilot in the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior and the AH-64D Apache. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology and a Masters in Adult Education from Kansas State University.

LTC Martin previously commanded the 2nd Squadron 6th Cavalry Regiment in the 25th Infantry Division including a 9 month operational deployment to Korea. Prior to command, he served on the Joint Staff as an action officer in the DJ5 – Plans and Strategy in the Middle East Directorate. LTC Martin has numerous tactical assignments as an Army Aviator with deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and a 12 month assignment to Korea on the DMZ.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge, Senior Aviator Badge, Parachutist Badge and various other awards.
