Major Courtland W. Stanley photoMajor Courtland Stanley joined the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in June of 2017, immediately following from his assignment as a KC-135R Instructor Pilot and Maintenance Officer at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina.

Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Major Stanley his commission in 2005 from the Reserve Officer Training Corps at East Carolina University, North Carolina. Upon completion of the Primary and Intermediate phases of flight training, he was selected to fly the KC-135R Stratotanker as his designated platform,
and earned his wings in July 2007.

Major Stanley has deployed multiple times to several countries in the Middle East in support of overseas contingency operations and has served as a T-1  Instructor Pilot for Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training. In 2016, he served as the Director of KC-135 Flying Operations at Andersen AFB, Guam. His official and personal travel experiences in the Asia-Pacific region include several visits to Japan and Wake Island.

He earned his a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from East Carolina University, North Carolina, and a a Master of Science in Leadership from Southwestern College, Kansas.
