Maj Charles Berry came to the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in January 2019 following his Division Chief tour with the “Guardians of the Pacific” Special Operations Command Pacific (SOCPAC) from July 2016 to May 2018 where he led the Contracting Division.
A native of Decatur Georgia, he reported for Officer Training School in Montgomery, AL in May 2007 and earned his commission in August 2007. From September 2007 to September 2010 he served as a Contracting Flight Commander supporting the “Wild Weasels” of the 35 Fighter Wings at Misawa Air Base Japan where he supported five F-16 deployments to Central Command and within Indo-Pacific Command and supported a United States Air Force and Thai Air Force Coalition exercise within Thailand.
In 2010, Major Berry reported to Oklahoma Air Logistics Center where he supported aircraft maintenance contracts for United States Presidential airlift platforms. Additionally, he completed one Combined Joint Theater Contracting Support Command deployment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Following that assignment, from 2013-2016, he served as both and executive officer and a Command Action Group speechwriter for the two Commanders of Air Education and Training Command in San Antonio Texas.
Major Berry holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Oklahoma Christian University. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing, Management and Research from Troy University.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal (4 Awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal (8 Awards), and various Unit awards and commendations.
