Areas of Expertise – Coalition Air Operations

Major David Galloway joined the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) in June 2018, immediately following an assignment at Kadena AB Japan.  Maj Galloway is currently serving on a year-long U.S. Air Force Strategic Policy Fellowship focused on the Asia-Pacific region.

Prior to the start of his Air Force Fellowship, Maj Galloway was assigned as the Wing Weapons Officer for the 18th Wing, Kadena Air Base Japan where he was responsible for integrating the Wings five groups and nine operational units via combined wing training plan including distributed mission operations, large force exercises and verifications.  He ensured the wings ability to meet Commander USPACOM and HHQ directed national security objectives through planning and execution.  He worked to improve combat readiness, command and control, bi-lateral processes and interoperability between the US and Japanese Self Defense Force enabling improved Integrated Air and Missile Defense.  With over 4500 hours, Maj Galloway has flown in both the E-3 and KC-135 with operational experiences in Operations Allied Force, Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Odyssey Dawn.

Maj Galloway is a graduate of the USAF Weapons School, where he authored a tactics paper on the E-3’s Role as a Sector Air Defense Commander.  He was an E-3 initial qualification training, instructor upgrade and Squadron Officer School distinguished graduate and holds a Master of Science in Aeronautics degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  Upon completion of his six month rotation with the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, Maj Galloway will continue his fellowship with U.S. Pacific Air Force.
