Lieutenant Colonel Kacie Lee joined the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) in August 2017 as the Executive Assistant.  Prior to her arrival at DKI APCSS, she served as the Deputy J34, Force Protection Division, for United States Forces Korea (USFK) in Yongsan, South Korea. 

A native of Waverly, Ohio, LTC Lee graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Pont, New York in 2001 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army’s Aviation Branch.  From there, she reported to Fort Rucker, Alabama for the Aviation Officer Basic Course and flight training.   LTC Lee’s first duty assignment was to Fort Campbell, Kentucky in 2002 as a UH-60L flight platoon leader in the 4-101st Aviation Battalion.  While there, she deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Her next operational assignment was to serve as a G3 Operations Officer at the Eighth Army Headquarters in Yongsan, South Korea, from 2005-2006.  Next, she was assigned to Fort Drum, New York, where she served in the 2-10th Aviation Battalion as an Assistant Operations Officer and then as an Assault Company Commander, deploying once again to Iraq.

In 2009, LTC Lee was assigned to Fort Irwin, California, where she served as an Assault Company Observer/Controller-Trainer, a Maneuver Planner, and Secretary to the General Staff.  From 2012-2013 she attended the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  She was then assigned to the 2-227th Aviation Regiment at Fort Hood, Texas, where she served as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer.  Next, she and her family moved to Seoul, South Korea where she served as the Deputy J34 in the United States Forces Korea (USFK) Force Protection Division.

Her military education includes Airborne School, Air Assault School, the Aviation Officer Basic Course, Aviation Captains’ Career Course, Joint Firepower Course, and U. S. Army Command General Staff College.
