MAJ Qiana Harder came to the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center
for Security Studies in August 2018 as a US Army Fellow. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, she received her commission as a second lieutenant in 2002. Her military education includes Military Police Officer Basic Course, Military Police Captains Career Course, Combined Arms and Staff Services Course, and Command and General Staff College.

She is a graduate of several specialty courses which include: Joint CWMD Planning Course, Security Cooperation Planners Course, Defense Strategy Course, National Security Course, Red Team Member Course, Strategic Studies Course, Conventional Physical and Crime Prevention Course, Antiterrorism Advanced Course, and International Military Police Course. MAJ Harder holds a Masters in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and in 2018 she earned a Doctorate in Business Administration from Northcentral University, where she specialized in Homeland Security Leadership and Policy.

Her experience in the Asia-Pacific Region includes serving for two years as a Military Police/CBRN Planner at US Army Pacific where she coordinated several security cooperation engagements with partners such as India, Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. She also planned military police participation in several joint, multilateral and bilateral exercises. While attending Command and General Staff College, she studied the Asia-Pacific region and took Korean as an elective language. MAJ Harder has deployed to Iraq and in support of the Global War on Terrorism. She has participated in multiple training events in Korea. She also served for three years as Provost Marshal and as Individual Training Branch Chief for the Military Intelligence Readiness Command at Fort Belvoir, VA.

MAJ Harder’s awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4), Army Commendation Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Combat Action Badge, and various other awards.
