MAJ Mikel Resnick came to the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in July 2018 as a US Army Fellow. A native of Oak Ridge Tennessee he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point (Class ’05) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Area Studies of Latin America.. His military education includes Officer Basic Course, Maneuver Captains Career Course, and Command and General Staff College. He has a graduate of several specialty courses which include: Modern Army Combatives Levels I-IV, Faculty Development Course, Mechanized Leaders Course, Anti-Armor Leaders Course, Airborne School, and Pathfinder School. In 2016 he earned a Masters in Business Administration from Webster University.
His experience in the Asia-Pacific Region includes participation in the Australian Command and Staff College Exchange Program. An experienced Armor Officer, MAJ Resnick has deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kosovo. He has participated in multiple training events at the National Training Center (NTC), Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), and the Joint Multi-National Readiness Center (JMRC). He also served for over three years as a Small Group Leader and Team Chief at the Maneuver Captains Career Course at Fort Benning, GA.
His awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal (2), NATO Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3), Army Commendation Medal (w/ Valor), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghan and Iraqi Campaign Medals, NATO Medal (2), Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Action Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and Parachutist Badge and various other awards.
