Senior Leaders Gain a New View of the Region at TSC 23-2

The Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies recently graduated 27 Fellows from the Transnational Security Course (TSC) 23-2, closing out the Center’s slate of course offerings for the 2023 calendar year. From December 3-9, the senior leaders received lectures on crucial security issues in the Indo-Pacific region. Engaging Transnational Security in the Heart of the Pacific

The Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) brought together senior-level security practitioners from more than 20 countries to explore transnational security issues and emerging challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. DKI APCSS professor Dr. Jeremiah Lumbaca and U.S. Navy Capt. Henry Saito led the group from June 23-28. From December 4-9, the senior leaders received lectures on crucial security issues in the Indo-Pacific region. DKI APCSS faculty shed light on topics such as the U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy, the rise of China’s Xi Jinping, Information security, climate change, and security in the Arctic region. With each lecture, the Fellows found particular benefit from listening to the perspective of their cohorts.

Twenty-Two Senior Leaders Graduated from the Transnational Security Cooperation Course

Twenty-two senior leaders from 19 countries and the United States completed the Transnational Security Cooperation (TSC) course 21-3 which was conducted in-resident in Honolulu, HI, from Dec. 5th to 10th.    The fellows participating in the course represented diverse nationalities from Bangladesh, Colombia, Fiji, Indonesia, Maldives, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Palau, Australia, Canada, France, Japan, and Taiwan. Non-governmental organizations in attendance included the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Criminal Police Organization. Thirty-one senior leaders from 25 locations completed the Transnational Security Cooperation course (TSC) 19-1 from May 19-24 at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS). The course manager was Dr. Scott Hauger and the course coordinator was Maj. Alex Botardo.
